In 2007, while working within Sheryl Sandberg’s Online Sales and Operations organization at Google, I received a coaching session that changed my life. This was before the word coaching (and careers revolving around it) was ubiquitous outside of the sports arena.
In this week's Pivot Podcast I share more about how that one session helped spark a movement that’s still alive within Google today: an internal “drop-in” coaching program—to make coaching accessible, easy to sign up for, and free—for all employees at all levels of the company. I also walk through the big themes and mechanics of how to set this up if you’re hoping to run a pilot within your organization.
Shoutout to Denny Clark for submitting the Listener Q&A that inspired this episode!

Here's this week's favorite finds 'round the web:
Watching: GUILTY AS CHARGED, I love Love Island (Hulu). There, I said it! The ultimate guilty pleasure . . . but only the UK version! The U.S. spinoff is rubbish. This NYT article is what got me hooked in the first place . . . reader beware! If It's On Love Island, Britain Is Talking About It.
Reading: I've done various future-self visioning and letter-writing exercises throughout my life, but Ann Napolitano's account takes the cake! I loved reading about her journey and reflections as she writes to her future self—and reads from her past self—every ten years :)
Listening: Robinhood Financial's Snacks Daily podcast — quick, punchy tech and business news. I listen on 2X so it's perfect for morning coffee or tea-making :)
Confused about tip etiquette? Check out the NYT's Guide to Hotel Tipping (I also used to think tips were included in Uber ride fares as they were at the start; not as of 2017, FYI!)
Tool: A longtime favorite when I'm not in the mood for writing long email replies, I love using Vocaroo to send a voice note — and invite others to do the same! But keep it brief; otherwise listening can take longer for your recipient than reading.
Teaching: I'm going to be leading a free Momentum masterclass on 3/3 — those on the early interest list have just voted on their topic of choice . . . and the winner so far is Your Book & Big Idea! Want to join us? Sign-up here and you'll get all the details »
That's it for now . . . THANK YOU for reading and listening, for your support, and for being part of this adventure with me. I am grateful for you every day, and I'm excited to see what 2020 brings!
